MENTAL HEALTH COOPERATIVE HONORED BY COURT

The Mental Health Cooperative’s Forensic Assertive Community Treatment team was honored as an “Exemplary Program” by the Davidson County Mental Health Court. The Honorable Judge Daniel Eisenstein presented the award to the team during a graduation ceremony where several of the graduates are served by this program: “The F.A.C.T. team has been instrumental in helping the participants of this court to succeed. They are extremely dedicated, dependable and professional and this court could not produce this level of success without them.”

The Mental Health Cooperative’s F.A.C.T. team assists adults who have been repeatedly involved with the criminal justice system who are also challenged with severe mental health issues. “This population requires specialized and focused attention to help meet their legal and mental health needs simultaneously,” stated Pam Womack, MHC Chief Executive Officer. “The entire community benefits when someone who is severely mentally ill and is involved in criminal activity gets the help they need and re-emerges a productive, law abiding member of society.”

The F.A.C.T. team is comprised of three case managers, a director and a dedicated psychiatric provider who provide community-based services to this specialized population. The Mental Health Cooperative is a mental health agency that incorporates intensive case management, psychiatric clinic and 24-hour emergency services into an integrated system of care. The agency is located in Metro Center and serves children, adults and families struggling with mental health challenges.
